I had no time to hate

I HAD no time to hate, because
The grave would hinder me,
And life was not so ample I
Could finish enmity.

Nor had I time to love; but since
Some industry must be,
The little toil of love, I thought,
Was large enough for me.

Love mostly comes with happiness and different kinds of joys, whereas hatred can pretty often imply pain, regrets, and desperation. Why waste a life that is already short painfully hating when you can enjoy it loving? Hatred is a waste of time, of feelings, of heart, and of mind.
